YSRCP Bapatla district president and former minister Merugu Nagarjuna on Monday (March 16, 2026) demanded that Telugu Desam Party MP Putta Mahesh Yadav immediately resign from the Lok Sabha following reports of his positive drug test.
Speaking at the YSR Congress Party central office in Tadepalli, Nagarjuna accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of protecting the MP instead of taking action. He argued that the issuance of show-cause notices was a delaying tactic and demanded a full investigation into the drug network. He said the government should demonstrate its commitment against the drug menace instead of protecting those involved.
