Andhra Pradesh Urban Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana on Thursday attacked the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) alleging that party leaders conspired to create a rift between him and State Endowment Minister Anam Ramanaraya Reddy by using the incident that took place at the inauguration of the renovated VRC High School as a pretext.

Earlier during the inauguration of the school building in July 2025, Mr. Reddy had strictly opposed the renaming of Venkatagiri Raja Municipal Corporation High School as VRC High School. In the presence of Minister of State for IT and Education, Nara Lokesh asked the government to restore the original name.

In Nellore on Thursday, Mr. Narayana clarified that he had already spoken clearly with the Minister for Endowments on the matter and stressed that he shared an excellent relationship with him. He stated that no provocation by YSRCP leaders to create conflict between them would ever succeed.

“Instead of getting involved in unnecessary controversies, I would respond to YSRCP leaders’ calls through developmental and social initiatives. I regret that YSRCP is resorting to cheap politics even in CSR-funded tree planting initiatives and warned that people will again teach them a proper lesson in future,” he said.

The minister visited several government schools in wards 42, 48 and 49 in Nellore and also had mid-day meal with the students. He announced that all schools in the city would be gradually modernized according to international standards. As part of this initiative, TVS has earmarked ₹6.5 million under its CSR program for the transformation of the Government Model High School.

He said, “This school will offer education from nursery to intermediate. The corporation has already released ₹ 2 crore for the building. The responsibility of constructing the school has been given to major developer NCC and the work is expected to be completed quickly during the two-month summer vacation after the annual exams.”

“Quality education is the only way to eradicate poverty. Schools are equipped with science, computer and robotics labs as well as art, painting and library facilities. ₹ 20 crore tenders for TIDCO school development have been completed. All promises made to the public will be fulfilled,” said Mr Narayana.
