YouTube announced a partnership with the entertainment and sports company Creative Artists Corporation (CAA) on Tuesday to protect public figures from deep influence. Through this partnership, the Google-owned video streaming giant will access its AI-generated DeepFake detection technology as early as possible, while celebrities will provide feedback to help YouTube improve its tools. The company also announced that its insufficient similarity management technology will enter the testing phase from early next year. It is worth noting that the tool can detect when videos mimic real people’s faces and voices.
YouTube collaborates with CAA to fight Deepfakes
In September, the video streaming company revealed it was developing a new technology that would help the creators of the platform maintain control over their similarity, including their faces and voices. Similar management tools can detect synthetic videos that mimic another creator and block them.
Three months after the announcement, YouTube now announced a partnership with CAA to test the technology and receive feedback from users. The company will get “the world’s most influential numbers” as early as possible to help them identify and manage the depths of AI generation. Although the company didn’t mention any names, it stressed that the celebrity pool would include “award-winning actor” and athletes from the NBA and NFL.
With this tool, these celebrities can also easily submit requests for deleting content through YouTube’s privacy complaint process. With the best efforts of public figures in deep development, the company may have formed such a collaboration with CAA, which will enable video streaming platforms to test the technology’s capabilities in a large number of potential AI-generated videos.
“The direct experience of CAA customers in the evolving AI landscape is critical to shaping a tool that responsibly empowers creators and the wider YouTube community,” the company said.
YouTube also stressed that this collaboration is the first step in product improvement. Later next year, the company also plans to test technology with top YouTube creators, creative professionals and their partners.
It is worth noting that CAA has several high-profile clients, including Ariana Grande, Peter Dinklage, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Zendaya, Matthew Stafford, Raphael Varane, Son Heung-Min, Cole Palmer, Carlo Ancelotti and others.
