Youth rescued after being trapped in Uppal Skywalk lift for 2 hours

A young man was rescued after he was trapped in a lift at Uppal Skywalk near Hyderabad Metro Station on Friday (June 12, 2026).

The youth, identified as Rahul, who lives in a men’s hostel in Uppal, was reportedly returning to his hostel from work when he boarded Lift 6B on the skywalk. The elevator malfunctioned, stopping in the middle of the journey and leaving him trapped inside.

After being alerted, the Police, Disaster Response Force (DRF) and Fire Brigade personnel rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation. Using specialized equipment, teams forced open the elevator doors and brought him safely out after nearly two hours.

Speaking to the media after the rescue, Mr. Rahul broke down in tears and described the agony he experienced during the ordeal. He called on the authorities to take steps to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again.
