Police arrested a 34-year-old man on Sunday (February 1) for allegedly possessing 53.98 grams of suspected MDMA and impounded his car in the early hours of the day.
The accused Irshad (34) of Ambarpallam in Mangalpady was taken into custody after police seized a car allegedly used to transport the narcotic for sale. The operation was carried out based on a tip-off received by the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF).
Acting on confidential information, the DANSAF team stopped the vehicle at around 3.35am and conducted a search during which suspected MDMA was reportedly found. Police said Irshad was earlier accused in drug-related cases. The case was registered under Section 8(c) and 22(c) of the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Inspector TK Mukundan is leading the investigation.
