A 27-year-old man ended his life at his Choutuppal residence on Tuesday allegedly due to mounting financial distress due to online betting losses.
The deceased was identified as Pavan Kumar, who ran a cattle feed business in Choutuppal. According to police, he had developed an online gambling habit in recent years. He had previously gone into debt due to gambling losses. After his family became aware of the situation, his father settled the outstanding loans and warned him against returning to betting.
However, Pavan allegedly continued to gamble and once again suffered losses, which put him in further debt. Unable to cope with the renewed financial pressure, he ended his life at his residence around 12.30 pm on Tuesday when no other family members were present, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the Choutuppal police registered a case.
