Upping their ante against the BJP government at the Center, Youth Congress activists in Mysuru celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on Thursday as ‘Unemployment Day’.
Youth Congress activists who gathered at Srirampura signal on HD Kote Road in Mysuru on Thursday prepared pakodas and distributed them to the public to highlight the absence of jobs for the youth in the country.
Activists at the center shouted slogans against the BJP government.
Asked by Mr. Modi about the number of jobs created for the youth in the country, Mysuru District Youth Congress Committee president Chandan Gowda said the Prime Minister had not addressed any press conference since assuming power.
Youth Congress activists criticized the Center for the hike in fuel prices and said the government has now announced a tax on UPI transactions as well.
After forcing former Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign, the youths will be forced to attack Mr. Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, he said.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson M. Lakshmana, who was also present on the occasion, said it was shameful that the BJP had launched a month-long campaign to promote Mr Modi’s achievements on his birthday.
He said BJP has destroyed the country and taken it back by 100 years. Unemployment in the country has reached 19%, he said, pointing out that young people are being forced to turn to food delivery without any other job opportunities.
