February 11, 2026

Three men accused of attempting to murder a 45-year-old man in Kolachiyadukkam were arrested by the Vidyanagar police from a hideout in Kuttiyadi, Kozhikode on Wednesday.

Two of the accused are already involved in assault cases earlier, police said. The arrested are Abdul Azzez (42), Abseer (32) and Ashique (34), all residents of Kolachiyadukkam. They were taken into custody by a team led by Vidyanagar Inspector KP Shin under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police and ASP.

According to the police, the accused assaulted CN Abdul Haris (45) of Sabana Manzil near Rifai Mosque in Kolachiyadukkam on February 3 at around 6.40 pm. The assailants allegedly stopped him on the road and assaulted him with fists and blows to the head, in addition to hitting his right hand with an iron rod and threatening him with a knife. CCTV footage of the incident was collected as evidence.

Police said the attack was allegedly motivated by a dispute related to the construction of a road across the complainant’s father’s land and questioning the parking of a car in front of the Rifai Mosque. The accused, who is accused in other cases of assault, was said to have threatened Haris to sell his house and property and leave the area.

Haris, who sustained injuries, was admitted to a private hospital in Cherkala. The case was registered under Sections 126(2), 115(2), 118(1), 351(3) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The defendant will appear in court on Wednesday afternoon.
