In a recent video published on the Ashwin’s YouTube channel, Dravid was thinking about Rohitian team care and described this feature as essential for their successful partnership. David, which served as the head coach from 2021 to 2024 and supervised the Indian triumph of the World Cup T20 in June 2024, appreciated Rohit for his approach. “It was really good. First of all, the thing with the Rohit I always felt was that the team was deeply taken care of and he was very clear,” Dravid said. He also explained that Rohit had set the tone from the beginning of the captain. “Right from the first day, it was very clear how he wanted the team and what was important to him. And that is really important in any relationship between the captain and the coach, especially the way I train.” David stressed that he always believed in giving the captains room for leadership. “I always liked to believe it should be the captain’s team. I was a player and I was also a captain, but the captain must lead in terms of the direction he wants to go, and you have to support him and help him,” he said.

He added that Rohit’s clarity made her work easier. “Of course, sometimes you have to help the captain when it comes to gaining this clarity and understanding what is needed. But with Rohit I thought it was very clear about what he wanted from the team – how he wanted the environment, how he wants the atmosphere, how he wants things to run.” David also explained that the experience that Rohit brought to the role was one of the main reasons for his success. “Over the years he had so much experience and it really helped. In these things he was very clear.”
