However, Samson did not perform at his best and was on the bench from the first match. That was when he met Rohit before the USA match. Rohit is the ICC ambassador for the T20 World Cup and has teamed up with the Indian team. He then told Samson not to be disheartened and his chance would come.
“Don’t be disappointed. It’s a long tournament. You will get your chance. The opportunity can come anytime,” Rohit told Samson.
Samson then went on to play for Namibia and returned to play against Zimbabwe where he was quick with the bat before his fine knock against the Windies.
HOW DID SAMSON REACT TO THE BENCH?
Samson said that while he was outhe just went back to basics, turned off his phone and stayed off social media. The goalkeeper said that he still believed in himself and listened to his loved ones.
“To be honest, I’ve worked with a lot of people and I respect the suggestions. There were valid points. But at the same time, I felt like I scored three international hundreds with the same setup. So I respected the advice, but I wanted to go back to my basics and shot selection. I didn’t want to change too much because I was performing in that style. I still believed in myself, I turned off my phone and social media,” I said very happy. Samson.
India will face England in the semi-finals on March 5 in Mumbai.
