India have dominated Pakistan in the T20 World Cups and the recent T20Is, but Rohit emphasized that cricket can be unpredictable and any team can win on its day. Speaking at an event in Dubai, he said: “First of all, I never believed in this word called favourites. It’s such a fun game and now we’ve seen so much happen in the last 10 years of international cricket. All these teams are now getting so much exposure by playing T20 cricket.” “You can’t just go and think it’s a two-point win for us. To get those points you have to play good cricket on that particular day or you could end up going home with nothing.”He added that current form, reputation and history do not guarantee success. According to Rohit, match day performance is key as any team can beat another in T20 cricket. “So it’s not about what you’ve done in the past, how your team is, players are in form or not. You just have to play well on that particular day because any team is capable of beating any team on that particular day,” he said.India have lost to Pakistan in the World Cup only once, in the 2021 T20 World Cup, and have beaten them in their last five T20I encounters.
