What did Karnataka HC said
While he quoted an example of Rajgopal Achary, who made a similar statement 75 years ago, the court said that, just as Acharya apologized, Haasan apology would be appropriate instead of asking for protection for the release of his film.
The bench said, “You know the importance of the movie and says that Mani Ratnam is made but you can’t make a statement (apology).”
“For your own creation, you want police machines to support now. The language is a sentiment to people. You are not an ordinary man, you are a public character. People who write on social media are also investigated,” the court added.
The court also said: “The fundamental right to speech and expression cannot be stretched to be injured by sentiments of the LAG.”
