As soon as the matter was accepted, the MEHTA judiciary expressed reservations about comments on the petitioner. “What about your comments? It wasn’t a simple re-tweet. You have added your own comments. You added spices,” said Mehta, as Livelaw says.

The Ranaut moved the Supreme Court after her request, which tried to cancel a complaint against her, was rejected by the High Court in Panjab and Haryana. The High Court justified that the leader of BJP did not show how her tweet, which was allegedly slander, was made in good faith, nor reported.

Mahinder Kaur, 73, from Bahadurgarh Jandian Village in Panjab in Bathinda District, filed a complaint in January 2021 at Bathinda Court.
