
Muslim spiritual Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi said on Saturday that yoga should be encouraged in mosques and Madrassas, but against “Surya Namascar” and said it was banned in Islam.
“I supported yoga, but I opposed Surya Namascar. Muslims can’t perform Surya Namascar. Surya Namascar is a deal in yoga. Every man and woman should do yoga. Yoga should be done in Madrasas and mosques.

According to the PTI report, Razvi took part in the Yoga International Day celebrations at the Grand Muftti house near Dargah-Ela Hazrat in Bareilly. “The worship of the sun is illegitimate in Islam. That’s why we have been forbidden to do Surya Namascar. Surya Namascar is not part of Islam. Therefore, no Muslim should perform Surya Namascar.”
“Yoga is also practiced in Islam. Yoga is not part of religion,” he added.
The report further quoted spiritual as: “Surya Namascar is a form of Sanatan Dharma, which means Hindu worship that Islam absolutely does not allow. Surya Namascar is” Haram “in Islam.”
Meanwhile, Minister Uttar Pradesh JPS Rathhore noted: “Like our sun is true, Surya Namascar. If the sun rises, Surya Namascar will continue.”
Rathhore commented after the yoga show at the Bareilly College Ground on Saturday, the report added.

Razvi also recommended yoga for women. “Yoga is very important for women because women are much less compared to men; women usually stay at home. People who do more sedentary work are more susceptible to disease
“Yoga is an activity that causes small illnesses to disappear by themselves and the body remains agile. So my request to women is to do yoga for at least 20 minutes every day,” he said.
