The commuting yellow Namma metro line, which is struggling with crowding due to the limited availability of trains, will probably soon be relief.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) plans the fourth train set, which is currently undergoing exams.
The train arrived at the Hebagodi 12. August from the Titagarh Rail Systems Limited in Kolkata. “The new train set is tested for trouble -free operation with existing signaling, telecommunications and power systems,” BMRCL official explained.
The yellow line was inaugurated with Prime Minister Narendra Modim 10. August and the next day was open to the public. However, the services started with only three trains, which resulted in long intervals more than 25 minutes between trips. This limited availability led to the passengers to face heavy crowds at the stations.
“It is expected that the addition of the fourth train will shorten the waiting time, but to achieve the required frequency, such as existing purple and green lines, a larger fleet will be required,” the official added.
The yellow line 18.82 km connects RV Road in South Bengalur with bommasandra, connects the residential areas and the busy industrial node Electronics City.
11th August, the day after the opening of the yellow line, the Namma metro recorded its highest daily rider with 10.48 lake personal tools on all operational lines.
