There will be a significant reduction in rain activity across the state from Friday as weather systems over the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal move from the Kerala region.
A depression over the Arabian Sea is moving away from the Kerala coast, while a well-marked low pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression off north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast during the next 12 hours, according to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday. It is then likely to move over north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and south coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 12 hours.
A yellow alert has been issued for nine districts, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Thursday (October 23, 2025) where isolated heavy rain is likely. On Friday, rain will be restricted to North Kerala region only.
