Urban Development and Mysuru District In-Charge Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Friday formally invited the royal family of Mysuru to participate in the Mysuru Dasara-2026 celebrations.

Dr. Yathindra visited the Mysuru palace and extended an invitation to Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, inviting her and other members of the royal family for the Dasara festivities. The royal family assured their full cooperation for the smooth running of the celebrations, he said.

Dr. Yathindra said it was customary for the Minister-in-Charge to formally invite the royal family for the Dasara celebrations every year.

The minister also said the royal family had proposed to limit the number of people allowed at the site where the gold ambari is mounted on the elephant in view of the delay caused by a large gathering at the site during last year’s trial.

The minister was accompanied by elected representatives and high-ranking officials.

Meanwhile, the entry of the public and tourists to the Mysuru Palace will be temporarily restricted on selected days in October and November in view of the religious rituals to be performed by the royal family as part of the Dasara celebrations.

According to the Mysuru Palace Council, entry will be restricted from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on October 5 to facilitate the assembly of the jewel-encrusted golden throne. Entry will also be restricted on October 11 from 10am to 2pm for the royal enthronement rituals and private Durbar.

There will be no public entry to the palace during the Mahanavami and Ayudha Puja rituals at Kalyana Mantapa on October 20. On October 21, Vijayadashami, the general entrance to the palace will remain closed for the entire day. Only visitors holding Dasara tickets and Jamboo Savari tickets will be allowed to enter.

Entry will again be restricted from 10 am to noon on November 19 to facilitate the dismantling of the golden throne and its transfer to the security room, the Mysuru Palace Board said in a press release.

In another announcement, the palace council said that the sound and light program at the palace, which usually takes place from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, will remain suspended from October 5 to November 1 in view of the Dasara celebrations. The program will continue as usual from November 2.
