Petrol pumps are functioning normally in Yadgir. On Wednesday, almost all the petrol pumps across the district suddenly saw large crowds to buy petrol and diesel after the news of fuel shortage spread like wildfire.
Some vehicle drivers reportedly engaged in a verbal altercation with petrol pump workers when there was an onslaught of vehicle users due to fears of fuel shortages due to the ongoing war in the Persian Gulf region.
Although petrol pump owners reported that they had sufficient fuel stocks, vehicle users rushed to petrol pumps and bought large quantities of petrol and diesel to store and use in case of emergency.

However, petrol pumps saw very few customers on Thursday. “It’s not even 15% of what we saw yesterday,” the employee said.
Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar and Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar visited the petrol pumps on Thursday after receiving information about panic among people while getting fuel to take stock of the situation.
They reviewed the methods adopted by the retailers to follow the guidelines set by the authorities.
The Deputy Commissioner checked the Retail Selling Prices (RSP) and other details mentioned on the boards displayed at each petrol station.
“The public should not panic about the availability of fuel as we have adequate fuel stock in the district,” he said.
Meanwhile, the police department has issued an advisory to the general public not to store fuel in hazardous containers and plastic cans and barrels.
“As a matter of public safety, the ministry has asked petrol pumps not to pump fuel into unsafe containers and other storage methods,” the police inspector said, adding that the licenses of petrol pumps found to be refueling using unsafe methods would be suspended.
