The possibility that Xavi Hernandez takes over the Indian men’s football team may sound much attractive, but recent news suggests that it has not been completely excluded. Former midfielder and coach in Barcelona allegedly applied for the role of head coach with the Indian national team after Manolo Marquez left at the beginning of this month.
According to a report in The Tech Word News, members All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) The Technical Commission was stunned when they saw Xavi’s name between the list of applicants. The position is currently unoccupied and the search for a new head coach comes in times of uncertainty in Indian football, while the questions are still surrounding the future of the Indian Super League.
“It is true that there was the name of Xavi,” confirmed Aiff Subrata team director in the report. “The request was sent by e -mail AIFF.”
Despite the significant interest of the AIFF, there was no longer existed this possibility, mainly because of the potential financial consequences to hire one of the character Xavi. While fans and observers may have welcomed such meetings, the Federation seems to lean towards more practical options.
Xavi is widely considered one of the best midfielders in football history and has already built a remarkable coaching career. He started his managerial journey with Al-Sadd in Qatar, where he won seven trophies in less than 100 matches. Later he returned to Barcelona as the head coach and led the club by a difficult period, secured home titles and laid the foundation for future progress.
It is currently reported that the list of candidates for the narrower selection includes former head coach India Stephen Constantine and Khalid JamilThe first Indian coach who manages the Indian Super League side.
The national team is still unclear, the decision not to consider Xavi can seriously increase eyebrows. Whether the choice of the AIFF will look elsewhere will prove to be the right one, but the mere fact that a character like Xavi expressed interest has added surprising twists to the continuing reconstruction of Indian football.
