X (formerly Twitter) has reportedly increased the price of its X Premium+ subscription (the highest subscription tier on the Weibo platform). The price of Premium+ on X is currently rising in the United States. According to a report, the price increase was launched hours after Elon Musk’s XAI launched the Grok 3 Artificial Intelligence (AI) model. Customers will effectively pay twice the cost of the old subscription. The price increase will only affect the highest subscription tier, currently getting the basic and premium tiers at the same price. It is worth noting that the platform has also announced another super Grok subscription.
X Premium+Subscribe Pricing
According to a report by TechCrunch, the price of X’s Premium+ subscription plan in the United States has risen by nearly $50 (approximately Rs 4,350), doubled its previous 22 (approximately Rs 1,900 per month). The annual price is also said to increase to USD 350 (about Rs 30,400).
The publication notes that new prices are mentioned on the support page of US social media platforms, but adds that there are several inconsistencies in pricing. When testing new pricing, the journalists of the publication offer monthly prices of $39.83 (approximately Rs 3,460) or $477.95 (approximately Rs 41,560) per month. However, the final checkout page charges USD 395 (about Rs 34,350). When the widget’s 360 employees checked the support page, the X Premium+ price was still available for $22 per month.
If true, this would mark a second price increase for a particular tier in the past three months. In December 2024, the platform raised the price of the Premium+ subscription plan from USD 16 (about Rs 1,400) to USD 22 per month. This change is also reflected in India, where subscription prices rise from the rupee. Rs 1,300 per month. Rs 13,600 per year. Rs 1,525 or Rs per month. 18,300 per year.
The company may be conducting A/B testing through various channels to assess consumer responses. However, prices in India have not been updated so far and are currently listed at the same hike price launched last December.
It is worth noting that the reported markup was discovered just a few hours after the release of the Grok 3 AI model. The new model has features such as thinking chain (COT) reasoning, in-depth search, and voice mode.
