Social media platform X experienced an outage on Monday that affected thousands of users across the United States, Reuters reported, citing Downdetector.com.
According to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from multiple sources, there were more than 41,000 reports of problems with X as of 8:24 a.m. ET (1324 GMT).
At the same time in India, more than 3,000 users reported problems with the Elon Musk-owned social media platform, suggesting many are still having trouble accessing the service.
Most of the complaints were about the website, while a smaller number of users reported issues with the mobile app.
Downdetector’s real-time monitoring saw a sudden spike in user complaints within a short period of time, resulting in a major disruption to service.

Monday’s outage is the latest in a series of recent outages to hit major online platforms. X also faced a comparable service interruption in March 2025.
In November of last year, a Cloudflare outage caused widespread access issues and outages for multiple sites, including X, affecting users in several regions.
Although it appeared that services would gradually be restored, the company did not immediately comment on the cause of the latest outage.
