WTC FINAL: What is the use of a spare day?
The International Criket Council has retained the next day from the first final of the tournament for this test match. The spare day (6th day) is used to complete the remaining reversal of the game if the result does not come after five days of the match.
This was the case in the final of 2021, when the game was washed out in Southampton between India and New Zealand to play the first WTC final. In this match, the spare day was used to cover the time that was lost.
