MIND-BLOWING CRICKET: Brillian Mandhan leads RCB to THUNDEROUS WIN over Delhi Capitals
Nagpur, 25th March 2025 – The 2025 season of the highly anticipated Women’s Premier League (WPL) has just witnessed its most thrilling encounter yet, as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) emerged victorious over the Delhi Capitals by a staggering 8 wickets! The electric atmosphere at the MCA International Stadium was palpable as the RCB fans, donning their marigold and red jerseys, went into a frenzy of joy and excitement.
The star of the show was undoubtedly the 22-year-old Brillian Mandhan, who single-handedly orchestrated the RCB’s victory with a masterclass performance. The left-handed opener, known for her aggressive approach at the crease, totalled 86 runs off 45 deliveries, including 7 fours and 3 sixes, as RCB chased down the Capitals’ total of 156 with relative ease.
Mandhan’s whirlwind knock, which came at a strike rate of over 190, left the RCB faithful in a state of poetic ecstasy. Her aggressive batting, which included a century-partnership with in-form middle-order batsman, Meghri Pradeep, broke the back of the Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack and set the tone for a thumping victory.
Under the bright lights of the MCA Stadium, the Delhi Capitals had threatened to post a competitive total, courtesy of a 41-run partnership between veterans, Harmanjot Kaur and Shafali Verma. However, their efforts were ultimately undone by the metronomic accuracy of RCB’s leg-spinner, Varsha Kumari, who picked up 2/24 in her 4 overs to keep the Capitals under pressure.
As Mandhan and Pradeep accelerated the RCB’s chase, the stadium was awash with a kaleidoscope of colors, as fans, donned in RCB jerseys and scarves, danced and shouted in jubilation. The Sea of Red, as the RCB fan base is popularly known, was in ecstatic mood, making it a thrilling experience for the players, who were soaked in the adoration of the packed stadium.
Counsel for the RCB, who looked relieved and dejected in equal measure, praised Mandhan’s efforts, "Brillian is a special talent, and we’re glad to have her in our camp. Her ability to take the attack to the bowlers and set the tone for the chase is unmatched. She’s got that X-factor that can change the complexion of the game in a split second."
For the Delhi Capitals, skipper Harmanjot Kaur rued the narrow loss, "We were in a good position at one stage, but Brillian Mandhan just took it away from us. We need to focus on our net run-rate now and ensure we give our fans something to cheer about in the second half of the season."
In a post-match presentation, RCB skipper, Jahanara Begum, hailed Mandhan’s heroics, "Brillian has been outstanding all season, and today was no exception. We’re thrilled to have her in our team, and I’m confident she’ll continue to make a difference in the remaining matches."
As the RCB players celebrated their hard-fought victory, amidst the roar of the rapturous fans, it was clear that this WPL season is going to be one to remember, with Brillian Mandhan at the forefront of the action.
