It is among the most expensive houses in New York
Citing data from Manhattan Miami Real Estate, the BBC reported that only 21 residential properties in New York are being offered at prices higher than the most expensive flat in the Flatiron Building. The city’s most expensive listing is a $128 million condominium overlooking Central Park.
A landmark with more than a century of history
The Flatiron Building was completed in 1902 and was among the oldest skyscrapers in New York. Architect Daniel Burnham designed the structure to fit the wedge-shaped site where Broadway meets Fifth Avenue.

Due to its unusual height and narrow profile, the building was initially nicknamed ‘Burnham’s Folly’ as some feared that high winds might cause it to collapse.
Originally built as the headquarters of the Chicago construction firm Fuller Company, the building later housed a variety of businesses, including toy manufacturers, clothing companies, magazines, and publishing companies. Despite changing residents, it remained an office building throughout its history.
Macmillan Publishing, one of its last office tenants, left the property in 2019. The current owners — Brodsky Organization, GFP Real Estate and Sorgente Group — have announced plans to convert the landmark into luxury apartments before renovations begin in 2023.
