As part of the World Legal Day celebrations, officials from the Legal Metrology Department are carried out within the Vizianagaram and urgently to comply with the Rules and Regulations of the Act on Legal Metrology of 2009 to avoid fines and cases. Awareness of awareness has been going on in the last two weeks and officials have been educating traders about their obligations, while consumers are informed of their rights.
Deputy Administrator of the Ministry of Legal Metrology Department B. Madhusudan Reddy emphasized the ministry’s efforts and said: “We have booking 3,044 cases across the Northern districts of Andhra Vizianagara, Parvatipuram-Manyam and Srikakulam in the financial year 2024-25, and 1 76.
Assistant Controller PV Ranga Reddy noted that the awareness program received a positive reaction from general merchants, oil sellers, fertilizer merchants and Bullion merchants. He asked consumers who feel cheated in transactions to contact legal metrology officials for fast remedies.
Mr. Madhusudana Reddy said that the aim of the ministry is to induce every trader to follow the rules and ensure that the goods sold to the consumers are in line with the declared weights, the maximum retail price and the measurement.
World legal metrology day was observed every year since May 20, 1875, when the first “measuring Convention” held in Paris, raised awareness of measurement science.
