Craig Fulton’s hockey team coach said that the World Cup qualification through the FIH Hockey for League League will be a priority for his party before the start of the tournament. India is currently the third in the ranking, point behind England and Belgium, who have 16.
League winners are guaranteed a place at the World Championship, but with Belgium and the Netherlands they will get to the event because hosts and Germany are defending champions, a team that ends up on the table could get a place. Fulton talked to India today during a virtual press conference and said that while they can still produce the World Cup by winning Asia Cup, the goal will be to complete the point tables and secure their place.

“I think it is quite clear that this is one way to qualify for the World Championship. So we mention it as a priority to try to qualify for League. It is obvious that if it does not work, we have the Asia Cup in India, India, but we trained well.
“Given that Australia, Holland and Belgium have already qualified for hosting and Australia won it last year. UM, another team of the highest location should get the qualification point,” Fulton said.
“We take things after one game at a time”
India will start its European leg two matches against the Netherlands 7th and 9th JuneFollowed by a double header against Argentina 11 and 12 June in Amstelveen. They then take a trip to Antwerp to participate in Australia 14 and 15 June before facing Belgium 21st and 22nd June.
Fulton said that while his party would try to earn maximum points from each match, but take things one game at a time.
“We played several of the best teams in Spain, Germany, England and Ireland. So, the part for League is done. We are sitting 3. And then we come to Europe to play Australia, Holland, Belgium and Argentina.
“Realistically, we go one game at once. We try to get maximum points from each game. So we don’t look too far forward. We have one game tomorrow. We have to try to earn maximum points. We can get fresh and win it.
“So we only go in one game at once. We will look at our preparation, which we have done in the last 10 days in preparation for the Netherlands on Saturday and Monday. Yeah, it is quite exciting to look at all the teams we play, but we actually focused on tomorrow’s game,” Fulton said.
