More than 150 people, including officials from the Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSRTI) in Mysuru and its units across the country and officials from Sericulture departments in various states, were among the participants in a workshop on Sericulture Extension held at CSRTI, Mysuru on Thursday.
Inaugurating the workshop, Nihar Ranjan, Dean (Forestry), Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI), emphasized that the results of the research must benefit mainly the marginal growers of plant origin, including women. He emphasized the importance of technology communication in regional languages through print, digital and social media platforms to ensure meaningful outreach and improve the livelihood of stakeholders.
In her speech, P. Deepa, Director, CSRTI expressed the hope that with the rapid advancement in IT and AI tools, it is essential for the branch staff to adopt modern technologies for effective diffusion of innovation across sericultural activities.
The participants included officials of CSRTI units in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, besides officials of sericulture departments in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, besides representatives of various universities and newly recruited CSB scientists from the Central Silk Board, a CSB statement said.
