Worker dies after falling from temple tower while installing lights in Chickballapur

Ahead of the last Saturday of the month of Shravana, a 22-year-old laborer died after he accidentally slipped and fell from a temple tower while decorating it with electric lights in Gudibande town of Chickballapur district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Rahmath, a resident of Bettada Kelagina Pete of Gudibande town.

The incident took place at the historic Venkataramana Swamy temple in Sante Beedi where arrangements were being made for a special program on the occasion of Shravana Saturday. The temple trust entrusted the electrical decorations to Rahmath.

After completing the lighting around the temple, Rahmath climbed the temple tower to install the remaining lights. While carrying out the final phase of the work, he reportedly lost his footing and fell from the tower.

Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he was declared brought dead.

Rahmath got married about four years ago and is survived by his wife and two sons. He worked as a daily wage laborer and was the main breadwinner of the family.

The Gudibande police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
