After 12 years of sweat, missed festivals and silent sacrifices, this seasoned Oracle employee found himself out of a job when his system wouldn’t let him log on.
In a heartbreaking tribute, Pooja Sahu, an American techie, shared that her husband Sourabh was let go from Oracle after 12 years of giving his best to his work even when life asked him to stop.
“My husband Sourabh lost his job today. After working for Oracle for 12 years, all he got was not being able to log into his system and get news,” she wrote in a viral LinkedIn post.

Unseen victims
Layoff statistics often obscure years of personal compromises made by rank-and-file workers. Pooja’s post highlighted the toll taken on families who quietly absorb the demands of non-stop corporate technology roles.
“I have never seen a man so hardworking and dedicated to his work,” she wrote, recalling her husband’s unwavering commitment to work over the past decade.
She recounted how work often takes precedence over critical personal moments:
- He worked from the hospital: He continued to work from the hospital while Pooja was admitted for surgery to remove the polyps.
- He worked during the holidays: During their vacation in New Mexico, he was on standby while driving Pooja.
- Missed festivals: Worked during Holi, Diwali, Rakhi and other festivals as well as birthdays, anniversaries and weekends.
- Work on health: A few weeks ago, a couple adopted a dog. Pooja said he took care of her as he worked through the night until 3 am, to the point where he fell ill from exhaustion.
Despite the relentless workload, Pooja noted that her husband never let the strain show.
“You never saw how much blood and sweat he put into his work or how much pressure he was under because he was always smiling and helping everyone around him,” she wrote. “Not only I, but no one in our circle of friends has ever seen him climb.

The sudden nature of Sourabh’s exit has struck a raw nerve among technology professionals across the world. For decades, parting ways with longtime talent have involved formal exit interviews, town halls, or direct communication with senior executives.
However, with the rise of remote and hybrid enterprise infrastructure, account deactivation has become the primary automatic notification of unemployment.
For Sourabh, an IT veteran with nearly two decades in the industry and an internal “Best Employee” award under his belt, the unannounced access revocation served as a jarring reminder of the company’s impersonality.

She concluded her remarks by appealing to the global technology network for opportunity. She urged hiring managers to consider him for open roles: “If you know of an opportunity, refer him. You’re not just getting a great team player, you’re getting a friend for life.”
For her husband, Pooja had a simple assurance: “Sourabh, better things are in store for you.”
