The Minister of Public Works PA Mohammad Riyas will be ceremonially launched on four Laning of the Manachira-Velimadukunnnu road on June 16. In the first phase, a 5.32 km section from Manachira to Malaparmba will develop. Lands obtained for road development have already been handed over to Midland Contracting PVT Ltd., which received an offer for work.
Meanwhile, working on drainage has already started in Manachira, where the road begins. It is planned to complete the drainage work before laying the road. The work is usually done at night to prevent traffic constipation and inconvenience of commuting during the time of day.
The expansion of the Manachira-Velimadukunnnu road has been a long-waiting dream of urban commuting. The Action Committee for the Road Action Committee of Manachira-vellimadukunnu has been struggling with the battle for more than 15 years to realize the dream because it seemed to be distant despite the allocation of funds from time to time.
The 8.4 km road develops as part of the project to improve the city road at estimated CRORE costs of 481.94 GBP. A total of 344.5 GBPs have already been sanctioned for the land and the administrative sanctions of 137.44 crore were provided for road construction.
The first phase is designed for the price of CRORE 79.90 GBP. The road will be 24 meters wide with concrete drainage and will have a two -meter walking trail and a median of two meters on both sides, on which street headlights will be installed. The project also includes up to 21 bus stops, seven buses, leg near the civil station and traffic signals at intersections.
Meanwhile, the MANACHIRA-VELLIMADUKUNNNI Road Action Committee demanded that it could float offers for the remaining three km of the road from Malaca to superpower. “The state government has put the remaining work on the back burner because it is part of the National Highway 766 and therefore Nhai is to be developed,” he said. However, the Committee said that Nhai has not yet announced any plans for the development of the section.
