On Saturday, they started in Ranipet, which was maintained by the District Rural Agency (Drda), working to rejuvenate an irrigation tank maintained by a district rural development agency (Drda).
Minister for Handlom and Fabrics R. Gandhi laid the cornerstone for work in the presence of collector Ju Chandrakaly. “Work to deepen the tank will be carried out. It will help collect excess water discharged from rainwater drainage in the surrounding villages and hills during the monsoon,” said C. Priya, assistant of a powerful engineer (AEE), Drda (Arcot).
Drda officials said that strengthening the tank volume is the main work that will be carried out during work. This will help prevent the flooding of the surrounding villages during the monsoon.
Currently, the jackets are about two meters in height and 2.5 meters wide. The rejuvenation work increases the total height to three meters. Even more importantly, the width and height of the jacket will be evenly maintained in the tank area. Such a balance of jackets will help store at least 5,000 cubic meters of water.
Above 17 hectares, rejuvenation of the tank, which has a total capacity of 1.5 lakh cubic meter of water, is performed under rehabilitation and the restoration of lakes 2024-25 at the price of 6.62 lakh. The tank is permitted and deepened to the original depth of four meters.
The existing entrances in the tank will be redesigned for free flow of rainwater from rainwater in villages. The entrances are 10 feet wide and runs to one kilometer.
There will be a path of tiled pedestrians at the wedding of the tank. There are also sitting arrangements, solar -powered LED street headlights, folded wall and jacket markings. Seedlings will be obtained without costs from the Ministry of Horticulture and farmers to plant around the tank. The work will also include a children’s park, playground and guard towers in the open space of the reservoir.
Drda has 26 tanks in the district. In this respect, three tanks, including TathnaPapanthangal Tank, were taken into rejuvenation. At present, it depends on the consumption of more than 15,000 inhabitants in at least eight surrounding villages. The peaks were laid around the tank bundle with local bodies to satisfy the needs of the water for its inhabitants. It also helps to increase groundwater levels to a radius of 3 km near it.
