Work on Pushkar ghat begins at Bhadrachalam before 2027 Godavari Pushkarams

Work on the construction of Pushkar ghats along the Godavari in the historic temple town of Bhadrachalam began on Saturday ahead of the Godavari Pushkarams scheduled to be held in 2027.

The state government has earmarked ₹ 46.65 crore for the puhskar ghat and related works in the first phase. The work will be done in three phases at an estimated cost of ₹49 crore, including ₹1.75 crore for the second phase and ₹60 crore for the third phase, and is scheduled to be completed by March next year, official sources said.

The new Pushkar ghats will be constructed along the Godavari in Bhadrachalam, Parnashala in Dummugudem mandal and Mothepattinagar in Burgampadu mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkat Rao and Bhadradri Kothagudem Collector Ankit attended the bhoomi puja held at Bhadrachalam to mark the commencement of the works.

On this occasion Dr. Venkat Rao asked the officials concerned to ensure timely completion of Pushkar ghat and other related works while maintaining quality standards.

He said that the state government has sanctioned ₹ 351 crore for the reconstruction and rejuvenation of the historic Sree Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam and that the work is in progress.

He urged officials of the Roads and Buildings Department to construct a full-fledged service road along the karakatta (flood bank) adjacent to the Godavari to facilitate smooth movement of pilgrims during the 2027 Godavari Pushkarams, which are held once in 12 years.
