Kozhikode’s dream of the Museum for the Late Singer Muhammed Rafi is quickly becoming a reality, because the construction began under the auspices of the Mohammed Rafi Foundation in Kozhikode. The visit of Shahid Rafi, the son of Mohammed Rafi, was on Sunday a shot in his arm for a foundation that worked hard to realize this dream for almost ten years. After completion, it will be the second Mohammed Rafi Museum in the country and the first in South India.
The foundation stone for Mohammed Rafi Garden & Museum was laid in 2020 Thotathil Ravend, the current MLA Kozhikode North when he was the mayor of Kozhikode. The 4.6 cents on Aurobindo Ghosh, which used to be a landfill, was dedicated to Kozhikode Corporation. The Mohammed Rafi Museum Committee under the RAFI Foundation Foundation processes the construction for the price of 60 GBP Crores.
Cleaning the land, obtaining permits from the forest department to reduce trees and Covid, some of the delay in the work were delayed. “The two -museum foundation is now finished and we expect to complete the building by the year,” said TPM Hashir Ali, founder of the foundation and curator of the museum.
It is planned to show off all the songs Mohammed Rafi along with some of the artifacts he used in the museum. It will also have a Rafi research device. The museum also includes a small amphitheater, where regular music programs will be held.
The visit of Shahid Rafi ensured the support of the singer family to the museum. The Foundation expects the family and Rafi fans to share some artifacts used by Rafi with the museum.
Meanwhile, Mr. Shahid Rafi said he was a magic of Rafi fans in Kozhikode. “I saw my father’s fans share their true love for him in all parts of the world. But there are more fans in Kozhikode,” he said.
