
Before the upcoming elections from local authorities expected at the end of this year, the local self -governing department sets out the number of local positions of the chairman of the authorities reserved for women and members of the planned caste/planned tribes (SC/ST). Three corporations, 44 municipalities, 471 Gram Panchayats, seven District Panchayat and 77 Panchayats blocks will be at the forefront of women.
As part of the rotation policy, the mayor’s post in Kochi, Kannur and Thrissur Corporations will be reserved in the coming term of office. Of the six jobs of municipal chairmen reserved for SCS, three will be reserved for SC women. One city chairman will be reserved for the planned category of tribes. Of the 92 Gram Panchayat President, 46 posts will be reserved for women SC, while 8 out of 16 features reserved for the ST category will be reserved for St. Eight out of 15 blocks that President Panchayat President reserved for SCS will be reserved for women SC.
19 950 departments
After defining the departments across local bodies in the state last year, the number of departments in the three -stage Panchayats increased by 1,577. It increased by 187 out of 2,080 to 2 267. In 14 Panchayats districts, the number of departments increased by 15 out of 331 to 346.
Of the 17,337 departments in the Gram Panchayats, 8,852 are reserved for women, 1,759 for planned castes (SC), 783 for women belonging to SC communities, 289 for communities ST and 121 for women belonging to ST communities, while 7 341 are general chairs. Out of 2,267 departments in block Panchayatta, 1,152 are reserved for women, 228 for SC communities, 82 for women belonging to SC communities, 36 for planned tribes (ST) and 12 for women belonging to the st.
