A 65 -year -old woman, S. Ramanamma, was murdered by some miscreants in the city in the first hours of Friday and her half -burned body was found in her residence in Venenevaripet.
The victim remaining alone was found with her hands and legs tied and is suspected of being strangled to death, said Eluru One Town Police.
Police Superintendent Adnan Nayeem Asmi has created special teams to detect the case.
“The defendant poured gasoline and lit the body in an attempt to appear as a fire accident, said the Eluru representative of the police director (DSP) D. Sravan Kumar, who visited the place.
After the police were warned, she threw herself into the place and found that jewelry and cash were missing in the house, DSP said.
