A 31-year-old woman died and five others were seriously injured after an express car hit a divider on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Pedda Golconda on Friday (December 26, 2025).
The deceased was identified as Kothagadi Shirisha, a housewife and a resident of Sangaredda. Among the injured persons in the car were the deceased woman’s 10-year-old daughter Sandhya (36) and her 9-year-old daughters Veeramani (45) and Sharada (40). They were taken to a hospital in Shamshabad for treatment.
The victims were traveling from Sangaredda to a meditation facility in Kadthal when the accident occurred. According to the Shamshabad police, the group left Sangareddy at around 3.30 am in an SUV with registration number ‘AP 28 R 2727’.
Police said around 4:50 am, the driver, allegedly driving at high speed, lost control of the vehicle near Pedda Golconda on the ORR and rammed into the divider. The impact threw Shirisha from the vehicle. She suffered severe bleeding injuries to her head and body, from which she died on the spot.
Complainant Arkathala Mahesh Kumar, Shirisha’s younger brother, said he was informed about the accident by the police and rushed to the spot where he found his sister lying dead on the road.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 25-year-old Mohammed Arshad, a native of Sangaredda, was arrested by the Shamshabad police. Police said a preliminary investigation indicated the vehicle was old and the steering may have locked up, contributing to the loss of control.
A case of culpable homicide has been registered against him and further investigation is underway.
