A woman who allegedly plotted her husband’s murder to fraudulently claim insurance money was arrested along with her four accomplices by the Khammam rural police on Sunday.
According to the police, the main accused, identified as 40-year-old Chaganti Prashanti, allegedly bought a policy of Gandhinagar in Khammam in the name of her husband Chaganti Ravi (55), a painter, as part of a conspiracy to commit fake insurance claims.
She allegedly hatched a murder plot and executed him with her accomplices a week ago.
One of the accused, identified as 28-year-old Rajkumar, allegedly hit Ravi from behind with his car and killed him on the spot at Venkatayapalem in Khammam rural mandal on March 2, 2026. The accused allegedly tried to project the bloody murder as a road accident.
A detailed investigation by the police revealed a pre-planned murder conspiracy and led to the arrest of all the five accused, including Prashanti.
