
A 50-year-old woman reportedly died of suffocation in an APSRTC bus in Jangareddygudem town of Eluru district on Sunday.
A native of Gopalapuram village in East Godavari district, M. Jyothi boarded the bus which was crowded with commuters. After some time, she collapsed and reportedly died due to breathing problems.
The Jangareddygudem police have registered a case and started investigation. Jangareddygudem Deputy Superintendent of Police Susmitha Ramanathan told The Hindu on Monday that the police are thoroughly investigating the case. “We are waiting for the postmortem report,” the ASP said.
Kovvur depot manager Abhiram Naik said that by the time the bus reached Jangareddygudem, 48 persons were traveling in the ‘Pallevelugu’ service. However, Mr. Naik did not state the bus passenger occupancy ratio in stages.
