The withdrawal of hundreds of criminal cases booked against activists in Sangh Parivar after Sabarimal agitations in 2018 may not be an easy task for the state government due to its legal imports.
Sabarimala Karma Samiti, a roofing organization that coordinated protests, estimates that more than 6,000 cases of nearly 16,000 activists have been reserved. Sangh Parivar’s outfits went to the streets after the Supreme Court’s order, which allowed women of all age groups to worship in the temple.
This question has renewed attention with various social and political organizations, including Samiti, and demanded withdrawal of cases as a prerequisite for a global meeting of devoted Ayyapp planned by the TravanCore Devaswom Council in Pampa 20 September.
Clashes with the police
The state witnessed vast violent incidents during the protests. Activists clashed with the police after 3 January 2019, Hartal called Samiti after reports that two women offered prayers in the temple. An uncontrollable destruction of public property has also been reported, forcing the state government to act hard.
Activists were booked for an unlawful assembly, joined an illegal assembly while armed with deadly weapons, a rebellion while armed with deadly weapons, assaults or use of criminal forces to discourage a civil servant to release his duty and voluntarily cause injury to a civil servant. Several others were also reserved for disobeying an order announced by a civil servant who caused a danger or obstacle to a public manner, to murder and accommodate an offense. The provisions of the Act on Public Property damage were also caused.
Involved in the leader
Four years ago, the State Cabinet decided to withdraw “independent” cases booked against those who participated in protests. The leaders of Samiti Sjr Kumar and KP Sasikala had the most cases against them, each of them, each of about 1,000 cases, almost all police stations. The state leaders of BJP, including K. Surendran, PS Sreedharan Pillai, V. Muraleedharan and KS Radhakrishnan, also have a large number of cases against them. Samiti fired a crore of 4.5 GBP to fight cases, said Mr. Kumar.
Even if the state government took a political decision on the withdrawal of cases, it would eventually be court courts that were accused of cases, it would decide on this matter. Courts can reject the state’s lawsuit and look for other cases. It is unlikely that the downloads would accumulate, stressed that the head lawyers of the state government.
