The Excise and Prohibition Department of Telangana has received a total of 95,137 applications for 2,620 liquor shops across the state. The selection of applicants for shop licenses will take place on Monday through a lottery system.
Officials said the draw will begin simultaneously in all districts at 11 am under the supervision of district collectors and in the presence of all applicants, which will ensure transparency in the allotment process.
According to officials, the number of applications varies widely from district to district. Hyderabad received 3,201 applications for 82 shops, Secunderabad 3,022 for 97 shops and Saroornagar 7,845 for 134 shops. Malkajgiri recorded 5,168 applications for 88 stores, while Medchal recorded 6,063 for 114 stores and Vikarabad topped the list with 8,536 applications for 100 stores.
Other districts also witnessed significant participation including Khammam with 4,430 applications for 122 shops, Sangareddy with 4,432 for 101 shops, Nalgonda with 4,906 for 155 shops and Warangal Urban with 3,175 for 65 shops.
