Telangana President Jagruthi Kalvakuntla Kavitha has launched a scathing attack on both the Congress and the BRS, alleging that the ongoing phone tapping probe was a “staged drama” to divert public attention from the demand for 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BC) in the upcoming municipal elections.
She said that both the leaders (citing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and BRS leader T. Harish Rao) were together in this public diversion and Telangana would not get justice with them.
Speaking at the Telangana Jagruthi office in Banjara Hills on Wednesday, she said the phone tapping issue was deliberately raised during the municipal election season to prevent Backward Classes from challenging the denial of promised reservations.
Accusing the Congress of cheating BC by not reporting their population in the caste survey, Ms Kavitha said the proposed central caste census offered an opportunity to expose the “fraud”. Announcing that Telangana Jagruthi will take the lead, she called on BC intellectuals to join the effort and said the organization would collect detailed data on BC castes and sub-castes to prevent injustice.
While clarifying that Telangana Jagruthi is yet to emerge as a full-fledged political party, she assured support and campaign assistance to aspiring candidates from marginalized sections. She earlier paid tribute to Mucherla Satyanarayan for his contributions to the backward and weaker sections as well as his role in the Mulki movement and both phases of the Telangana movement.
