February 13, 2026

Zimbabwe registered a historic victory against Australia in the 19th match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup T20 on Friday, February 12, defeating them by 23 runs at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. While Zimbabwe’s victory is a significant moment for the African nationit also has special significance for India. Zimbabwe have beaten Australia only three times in the history of the World Cup, both in ODIs and T20Is, and India have won the tournament on all three occasions.

Zimbabwe’s first World Cup win against Australia came in 1983 when they beat them by 13 runs in Nottingham. In the same tournament, led by Kapil Dev, India claimed their first World Cup triumph by defeating two-time defending champions West Indies at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

For the second time, Zimbabwe defeated Australia in the World Cup during the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa. Prosper Utseya’s side defeated Ricky Ponting’s formidable Australia by five wickets in Cape Town. India won the inaugural edition of the tournament by defeating Pakistan by five runs in Johannesburg.

India recorded back-to-back wins

Now that Zimbabwe has beaten Australia again in 2026, fans have started anticipating another World Cup triumph for India in the ongoing edition. The men in blue have made a great start to their campaign, won both of their matches against USA and Namibia.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led team is on top of Group A with two wins from two matches and net odds of +3.050. They next take on Pakistan on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo in a much-anticipated clash.
