Biju Janata announced on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) that she would oppose a special intensive revision (Sir) planned in ODISH next month if the Indian Election Commission (ECI) accepted the same approach as Bihar, where true voters were reportedly discarded due to hasty processes and insufficient time and insufficient time and insufficient time.
The BJD responded to the Indian Election Commission, which called on the regional party to propose to improve the election process.
Amar Patnaik, a former member of Rajya Sabha, raised the question of Sir with the election commission and stated that the BJD would be vehemently against its implementation if the same approach was followed as Bihar.
“Sir should be carried out with the right goal to improve transparency in the election process, with active involvement of all parties involved. No eligible voter should be canceled under the pretext of removal of incapable voters from the electoral role,” the party delegation said.
BJD said it would build its plan to have an ECI response and can complete an agitation program if they do not deal with real problems, the party said.
Delegation led by Debi Prashad Mishhra, vice president of the senior party, repeated his objection to the inexplicable and unusual deviations in the number of interviewed and counting votes, the inconsistencies between the MP and the MLA linked and in the past counts in 2024.
The party also raised a question without accepting the 17C form, despite the repeated efforts of local election officials to the level of the peak. According to a statement issued by BJD, the Election Commission expressed surprises and acknowledged that the 17C form should be provided.
The BJD has submitted its findings and emphasized how the available data indicate the voting irregularities and raise concerns about the integrity, legitimacy and impartiality of the electoral process.
“As regards the preparation of election roles, the delegation has proposed improvements to ensure that no legal voter is canceled, especially migrants and temporary workers,” the party said.
“Given that NRI is entitled to register their names in their election role in their native constituents in India according to the provisions of section 20a (1-C), a hard look against migrants and temporary workers working outside Odisha,” Mr. Mishhra pointed out.
“If you do, it can lead to socio -cultural disharmony in its native villages if they are deprived of voting rights,” he said. According to BJD ECI, she assured that she would provide for a longer time and more opportunities to enroll.
