As the United States continues to bring Russian President Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table to end the war in Ukraine, Putin’s special envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, has announced that the war in the European country will end within a year. Kirill Dmitriev spoke at an investment conference in Saudi Arabia after speaking with United States officials.
His visit followed the announcement that the summit between Trump and Putin had been postponed. Dmitriyev said: “We are sure that we are on the road to peace and as peacemakers we must make it happen.”
Asked whether peace in Ukraine is possible within a year, Dmitriyev replied: “I believe so.
During a visit to the United States, Dmitriev said that Moscow and Washington were approaching a “diplomatic solution” to the war in Ukraine. He also highlighted growing cooperation between Russia, the US and Saudi Arabia – the countries with the world’s richest resources – saying it could help make the world safer.
“Right now people are focused on the regional conflict that exists around Russia, but we don’t want it to escalate into a bigger conflict. And that’s why we have to do better than we’ve been doing, not worse,” Dmitriyev said.
