The cricket council in England and Wales (ECB) examines the viability of the World Championship in the T20 cricket, more than ten years after the last edition of the extinct Champions League (CLT20). The last edition of the CLT20 took place in 2014, when CSK defeated the KRK in the summit Clash in Bengalur. The tournament began 2009 before it was extinct in 2014.
Several countries have launched their own franchise league in the last few years, including England (one hundred), South Africa (SA20), SAE (ILT20) and the United States (MLC). Also in other sports we have seen new club leagues coming with the preparation of the FIFA Club and Rugby Union World Championships are preparing to open its own club championship.

While the plans are still in the early stage, the ECB is interested in bringing a CLT20 tournament. Richard Gould, CEO of the Board of Directors, said Espncricinfo that he felt that the club championship for men and women could be another logical step towards the development of sport.
“That’s on the cards,” Gould said. “No doubt, at some point, the World Championship in the club – for men and women. This is another logical step.”
The CLT20 operated the BCCI, cricket Australia and cricket South Africa and was interrupted because the organizers said its limited public followed as the main reason for the termination of the tournament in addition to the commercial aspect.
Gould, however, feels that the tournament was some time ago and it was a really good event.
“The tournament was some time ago,” he said. “It couldn’t keep up commercially with expectations, but it was a really good event.”
The World Championship in the club will require support from eight out of 10 IPL teams, as they also invest in teams in other countries. IPL chairman ARUN DHUMAL indicated that BCCI can look at the club championship if it can create value for the game.
