
Punjab Kings assistant coach Brad Haddin said Shreyas Iyer is expected to shake off the injury scare and play in the match against Chennai Super Kings on April 3 at Chepauk. Shreyas suffered a knock during PBKS’ win over GT when he was hit hard in the hand by a Cooper Connolly shot.

Now, PBKS assistant coach Haddin allayed the fears and said that Shreyas did not suffer a fracture in his hand. Haddin said there is some swelling on his right hand but he expects Shreyas to be fit for the game.
“No break. So that’s a good thing. Now it’s just about getting the swelling down and getting the movement back in the hand, so he should be right tomorrow,” Haddin said in a pre-match press conference on Thursday.

Shreyas was injured in the save attempt and Haddin admitted it was a close one for Punjab. The PBKS assistant coach claimed that it could have turned out to be a nasty injury, but at the moment they got the best possible result.
“So we’re very lucky, he was well hit by Cooper, it was a drop from the captain who was labeled as a statistic, but with all the injuries we got the best possible result we could from what we thought at first looked like a nasty incident,” Haddin said.
Shreyas played 15 matches against CSK in the IPL, scoring 371 runs at an average of 28.54 and a strike rate of 115.94. In his last game, Shreyas scored 72 off 41 balls against CSK.
