Lucknow Super Giants coach Justin Langer declined to comment on where skipper Rishabh Pant will bat ahead of the clash against Delhi Capitals in Lucknow on Wednesday, April 1. Pant had an indifferent season in 2025 where he was bought by LSG for a whopping Rs. 27 million.
It was also partly to do with how he was constantly shuffled around the batting order. The LSG captain has batted at No.4 in four of the five matches. In the high-scoring match against KKR, he did not come out to bat and even batted at No. 7, incidentally against DC in Lucknow.

He found success at number three when he scored a set against RCB in the last league match. There was news before the new season said Pant would be handed the No.3 role ahead of Nicholas Pooran, who had a great run at No.3, scoring 466 runs with five fifties in 12 matches.
Langer admitted it was difficult to meet Pant, Pooran, Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh in the top four because they are all great players. But he admitted that it was a good headache for the new season.
Specifically with Pant, he said he wouldn’t reveal anything to avoid it DC plans well in advance of the game.
“I’m not going to tell you. The truth is, I’m not going to sit here and tell you where Rishabh Pant is going to bat tomorrow. I appreciate you asking, but if you want a straight answer, I’m not going to tell you where he’s going to bat tomorrow, because then DC knows where he’s batting, and then everyone’s going to have to deal with it tonight, not tomorrow at 7, you’ll see.” Langer.
HINGE RECORD AT NO.3 IN IPL
Pant scored 558 runs in 15 matches, during which he scored one hundred and two fifties. His strike-rate is 172.75 and average 46.5. Last season, Pant managed just 269 runs from 14 matches and will be hoping for a revival this time around.
