The decision of the Directorate for Technical Education to carry out repeated examinations before the official publication of the results of the second, fourth and sixth semester of the diploma exams has caused a number of the diploma exams, and the teachers described it as an attempt to help several students.
Teachers from polytechnic universities throughout the state raised serious concerns about movement and described it as “unprecedented”. They asked why the department was conducting additional examinations before announcing the results of regular exams, which suggests a possible manipulation that favors certain students.
Dr. Shino P. Jose, a teacher in the university sector, said that such a step was unheard of. “This is the first time that the Council’s examiner brings rehearsals for unsuccessful students without saying who failed. It clearly suggests the effort to protect his own people,” he added.
The circular issued by the June 2 -June controller has intensified suspicion, and critics said that this step deviated from standard investigative protocols and threatened the transparency of the evaluation process.
“Instead of an official announcement of the results, identifying those who failed, and then planned an additional exam, it seems that the ministry identifies them unofficially and gives them a second chance before the public even informed about the results,” Shino. He urged test checks to provide a transparent explanation of circular and protection of academic integrity.
Meanwhile, skepticism has joined the silence of other teachers within the headquarters. The parties involved require responsibility and transparency to adhere to the credibility of the state’s technical education system. However, the common controller of the technical examinations Ray defended the decision and stated that it was made after the government order.
“On the recommendation of the Directorate, the Government allowed repeated examinations for students who failed or missed the theory test at the institution level within the curriculum of revision 21 in the state polytechnic universities, Ray said.
He added that the institution’s level tests, introduced as part of the curriculum reform, aim to strengthen institutions and reflect the academic model of autonomous universities.
“During the inspection, it was observed that government universities were followed by strict evaluation, while self -phinanic institutions were more lenient. To ensure justice, the affected students were awarded a second chance,” he explained.
Mr. Ray also said that the questionnaires were prepared and evaluated by teachers across institutions-if the government, supported or self-financing-and the stamps were later consolidated in the official list of brands.
Dr. Shino, however, rejected the justification and stated that institutional autonomy could not be compared to the autonomous status for the University grant commission. He pointed out that no polytechnic in Kerala does not qualify for such autonomy and only a small number of universities in the state bears official autonomous status.
