On Thursday, July 17th, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it would inform everyone at the “appropriate time” about the possibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit China next month.
“The SCO meeting has been gone for several months. Country participation is completed according to mutual comfort. We will let everyone know at the right time,” said Mea Randhir Jaiswal, responding to the media question about the possibility of visiting PM Modi in China for Shanghai for Cooperation (SCO) next month.
MEA reactions came in the middle of messages that indicate that PM Modi is likely to visit China at the SCO summit.
If this is confirmed, it will be the first visit to PM Modi in China after the relations of the two neighboring countries came under serious tension after a military distance in Galwan until 2020 along the real inspection line (LAC) in the eastern Ladak.
During the summit, a possible meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping is particularly expected. Both leaders met the last during the BRICS Summit in Russia in October 2024.
