It is an acid test for former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who is contesting from Bodinayakkanur for the fourth consecutive election. But this time there is a difference — instead of the two-leaf symbol of the AIADMK, with which he has been associated for more than three decades, he is competing for the rising sun symbol of the DMK, the very party against which the AIADMK was founded.
While his supporters are trying to highlight the circumstances that made him switch to the DMK, he has not been widely accepted by the ruling party workers yet.
